About Rockdale Emergency Relief
Rockdale Emergency Relief (RER) provides emergency financial assistance, food and clothing to Rockdale County residents experiencing temporary financial hardship due to unforeseen circumstances. Circumstances may be a job layoff, medical emergency or long-term illness. RER assists by ensuring families have access to the resources they need to help them maintain stable housing and work towards regaining financial stability.
RER’s work addresses the urgent needs of families suffering from financial insecurity, allowing them to maximize household resources in an effort to retain housing, find employment, and get back on the road to self-sufficiency. They were founded in 1967 as the Rockdale County Emergency Relief Fund, Inc. Over the past five decades, they have continued to grow in their ability to serve the residents of Rockdale County, expanding their portfolio of services to include a full-service food bank, summer lunch program for children, clothing distribution program, holiday assistance program, referrals for emergency housing, financial literacy education, and direct financial assistance.
